CT Cares was a proud sponsor of the Caring Hearts Annual Gathering held on April 28th in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. We heard some VERY powerful stories about organ donation. Did you know:

1. You can save up to eight lives through organ donation.
2. One organ, eye, and tissue donor can save and heal more than 75 lives.
3. The number of people requiring a life-saving transplant rises much faster than the number of available donors.
4. Every 10 minutes, someone is added to the national transplant waiting list.
5. On average, 20 people die everyday while waiting for a transplant.
6. There are no age limits for organ donation.
7. There are few health conditions that would prevent someone from being a donor.
8. There is no cost to donors or there families.
9. Donation neither disfigures the donor’s body or interferes with funeral arrangements.
10. Only 3 in 1,000 people die in a way that allows for organ donation
11. You can specify which organ and tissues you want to donate.
